Social media Influencers in Kenya have come a long way, from social media to content and other areas of online marketing. The role they play and the influence they exert on online users cannot be overestimated. Whatever they endorse automatically could become a trend; they lead, others simply follow.

Akothee just topped the most recent most popular Instagram personalities in Kenya.

She may be a lot of things to a lot of people but one thing no one can take away from her is her seamless ability to stir the pot.

Love or hate her, the lady is simply hard to ignore, as it is almost impossible to go a day without learning of a new version of her shenanigans.

As she likes to put it, “Her life is your entertainment,” While the singer’s stunts have sometimes had some lasting repercussions on her credibility as an artist, they have also come with some advantages, if a recent study is anything to go by.

As it turns out, the mother of five, with all her drama, is the most sought after character on Instagram, beating the likes of Vera Sidika and Eric Omondi. The survey conducted by US firm Medium identified various Kenyan personalities and their popularity across the three popular social media platforms – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

But apparently, there is much more to social media than just having a huge following and Akothee emerged as the most sought after personality on Instagram because her posts have the most engagement.

In other words, Akothee’s posts on Instagram enjoy the most interaction of all celebrities in Kenya because everyone always seems to have an opinion of the self-proclaimed President of single mothers.

On Facebook, it is Nairobi governor Mike Sonko who has the most engaging page closely followed by comedian Churchill and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Twitter, which is considered the social media platform of the more sophisticated lot, is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta in terms of social media interaction, with controversial blogger Robert Alai and Deputy President William Ruto emerging second and third respectively
