Following the recently concluded Oscars Awards show, a popular Nigerian actor just revealed how he bailed on the ceremony to carry out his civic responsibility.
The Nollywood actor identified as Alex Ekubo made the revelation in the Instagram comment section of his girlfriend’s post, Fancy Acholonu.
His lover had posted a picture of herself with a caption in which she disclosed that she attended the Academy Awards alone because her date was not available.
She added that he had to fly back to Nigeria to carry out his civic responsibility.
She said: “Was sadly solo at the Oscars cus my handsome date had to fly to Nigerian to vote! Super proud of him for making #Nigeriadecides2019 a priority! A noble, humble & patriotic man.”
The actor had in turn responded to her post by noting that his country comes first. He, however, appreciated his lover for her understanding and added that they would both be attending the next edition of the highly coveted award ceremony.

Alexx Ekubo (born Alex Ekubo-Okwaraeke; 10 April 1986) is a Nigerian actor and model. He was first runner up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest. He won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in the Weekend Getaway.
Ekubo’s film debut was a minor role in Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s Sinners in the House (2005); his first major role was in Ladies Men several years later.
