Kenyans react towards the death of Athlete Mayioro

The athlete legendary Nyantika Mayioro has died after being diagnosed with tuberculosis and later a comma which led to his death. He was among Kenya’s first three competitors in athletics at the Olympics, a breakthrough achieved at the 1956 Games in Melbourne, where Kenya competed for the first time, as a British colony then.

Kenyans are mourning his death and have taken to social media to share the condolences. Athletics Kenya President Jack Tuwei and the association’s Nyanza South branch chairman Peter Angwenyi have also sent messages of condolences to the legend’s family.
