Kenya Wildlife Services is currently fighting a fire that gutted Chogorea area in Mt Kenya, the inferno is reported to have started on Saturday 23 at a campsite in Chogoria.
In a statement posted on their twitter handle KWS confirmed and said all visitors who had been trapped in the area have been rescued. According to KWS, the rescue operation was conducted by a multi agency team drawn from Kenya Forest Services (KFS), Mount Kenya Trust (MKT) and Rhino Ark Foundation.
KWS further reports that some other areas are still on fire though fire in some parts of the areas has been contained and also warned members of the public against engaging in activities that may trigger fire in protected areas.
