Vidic Claims Man United’s Defenders Are Better Than Liverpool’s

Manchester United will host Liverpool on Sunday the 24th of February.

United head into the game having lost just one of their last 13 games across all competitions under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Man United also start the weekend 4th in the table but will need to beat Liverpool to ensure they stay there.

As for Liverpool, the United clash is their game in hand on 1st place Manchester City who are playing in the League Cup final this weekend.

A win or draw vs United would see Jurgen Klopp’s side return to the top of the table.

Ahead of the Man United-Liverpool tie, former United defender Nemanja Vidic has been speaking to the media.

One of the most suspiring things Vidic said in the lead up to Sunday’s game is that he would not take a Liverpool or Chelsea defender and put them in the United side.

Given Chelsea’s poor form a case can be made that none of them would get into the Man United eleven.

But to stay the likes of Virgil van Dijk would not walk into United’s team is quite bizarre.

Speaking to Omnisport Vidic stated:

“Overall, I said even before when they [Man United] didn’t have great games, if you look at the other teams, I would not have any defenders of Liverpool or Chelsea I don’t think they have better defenders than we have.”As quoted by the Mirror.

Vidic did go on to praise van Dijk but his claim is still somewhat strange:

“He’s a great defender, top defender, but I’m saying when teams are doing well, everyone gets recognition.

“I think that’s why I like to believe that we have good defenders [at United] and I think [the form] has been better coming from our defenders and the whole team, I think.” As quoted by the Mirror.
