The Biggest Mistake Man United Can Ever Make

Manchester United has of late proven to be a mountain to every rival they meet and this trend should continue for the sake of reviving the long gone glory United had under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The current manager has proven he can do that. The worst mistake, however, that United can do right now is to replace him.

There should no longer be a debate over whether Manchester United should give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the full-time manager’s job.

The vast majority of United fans believe Solskjaer is the perfect man for the full-time role – and the club’s form since he took over as caretaker manager is all the proof they need.

He has already shown promising signs that the club could excel under his long-term management, with United finally playing like one of the best, if not the best, team in the Premier League

When Solskjaer took over United had only 26 points and were languishing in sixth place in the league. After winning their last nine league games, they now sit fourth with 51 points.

Many fans and football experts had ruled United out of the top four and believed only a ‘miracle’ would elevate them into the Champions League spots. Solskjaer has proved that miracles do come true and has turned United into a force to be reckoned with.

Key players at the club have also improved drastically since his arrival but it is perhaps the right call to wait until the end of the season to announce him as the permanent manager in order to not risk disrupting the momentum.

Although United had a poor result against PSG in the Champions League, that result should be considered as a blip Solskjaer is the first manager at United to win away at Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea since 1984-1985 and fans believe he understands the club’s DNA and culture, making him the right man for the job.

Paul Pogba has been the most improved player under Solskjaer and is cementing his place as one of the best players in Europe. It’s a remarkable turnaround after his struggles under Jose Mourinho. The French midfielder has scored nine goals and assisted six in just 12 games under Solskjaer, showing his immense quality.

Meanwhile, Ander Herrera is a player who perhaps does not get as much praise as he deserves for his duties in the midfield for United.

Herrera has established himself as one of the first names on the team-sheet under Solskjaer as he has improved in his role as a sitting midfielder. The 29-year-old has shown great passion and leadership qualities and demonstrated he could be a future captain for the club.

Victor Lindelof aka ‘the iceman’ is another notable mention as he has become the best centre back at United over recent months. The Swedish defender has been outstanding for United under Solskjaer and Mourinho and he has played a huge part in the recent clean sheets for United.

Mauricio Pochettino has been linked with the manager’s job at United, however some fans think he is not yet ready for the job due to his Tottenham side not being good enough to go the full mile and win a trophy. Pochettino has made Spurs a top four side but that is all he has done as they have not challenged for a major trophy or come close enough to winning one over his tenure at the North London club.

Next up for Solskjaer’s United is a tough visit from Liverpool in the league. The whole of Manchester will be rooting for United as fans do not want Liverpool to win the league and believe United could determine who wins the league if they are to beat Liverpool and do neighbours City a favour.
