Prime properties worth half a Billion enlisted by EACC owned by Samburu Gorvenor

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Wednesday descended on the Samburu Governor’s homes in Samburu and Nairobi, recovering files related to expenditure in the last four years.

Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal is said to have acquired multi-million properties within four years that has raised a lot of suspicions.

His house was raided over a Ksh. 2 billion fraud case where some of his employees in the Maralal home were restricted from accessing the house.

EACC on Friday produced a list of prime properties that Lenolkulal is said to have acquired through alleged fraud. The assets range from petrol stations to residential houses to his personal house in Nairobi and Maralal.

Here is a list of some of the properties owned by the governor:

1. His Karen home – this is valued at Ksh300 million which was acquired in the 2016/2017 financial year and sits on a 1-acre piece of land.

2. Milimani home in Maralal – it is valued at Ksh100 million and was developed between 2016 and 2017.

3. A Commercial residential apartment in Maralal valued at Ksh20 million and was built in 2017.

4. A resort, Red Rock Resort in Maralal town, containing 20 cottages valued at Ksh70 million.

5. Oryx petrol station valued at Ksh90 million. The petrol station has reportedly made profits of Ksh73 million as quoted by Citizen Digital.

EACC, in the list, stated that county officials registered companies and awarded themselves contracts worth over Ksh700 million and were paid without delivering any services.

Responding on the ongoing investigations, the governor on Thursday stated that he was ready to face the consequences if found guilty.

He further denounced every county official said to be involved in the scandal assuring that they would carry their own crosses if found culpable.
