EACC arrests senior of medical services over bribe

The Ethics & Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested a senior official of Kenya’s Medical services under accusations of having sought bribes from firearm owners.

Senior Assistant Director of Medical Services Georgina Wangui Kamunge was on Friday taken in by EACC because she is believed to have sought bribes from firearm owners who wanted psychiatric evaluation reports from Mathare Hospital during the ongoing vetting of licensed firearm owners.

According to EACC complaints from firearm holders the said process was marred with gross corruption.

“EACC received complaints from firearm holders seeking the said evaluation reports stating that the process was marred with gross corruption. We conducted covert operations at the hospital where we obtained recordings of the bribe demands by the suspect and others.”
