President Uhuru To Corrupt Officials, You Should Carry Your Own Cross.

President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday urged government officials not there to engage in corruption or any habit that will taint their names, families, communities and their generations.

The president issued the warning in Kisii County on Wednesday where he had gone to launch new equipment at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital.   “If Matiang’i steals, will he share the matoke with you?” he posed, referring to Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, and the community’s staple food.

“Or if I steal, will I share the loot with my people of Ichaweri? Corrupt individuals should not be identified by their communities. Let everyone carry their own cross,” he added.

The president also said he leads by example and if he was found guilty of corruption, he is ready to serve a jail term.  “I will fight corruption by all means possible and I do not care what they say. I am ready to be jailed if I am personally found guilty of corruption,” declared Uhuru.
