ODM tells off Wiper again as rivalry escalates

Julius Mawawthe and IEBC official after 2017 win

Following Supreme Court’s nullification of Julius Mawathe’s 2017 election as member of parliament, two National upper Alliance (NASA) coalition parties are now falling on different sides of a political divide.

The Orange Democratic Party (ODM) and Wiper parties of NASA will be going head to head for the upcoming Embakasi South by-election.

Mawathe vied on the Wiper party ticket but his win was challenged by ODM’s Irshad Sumra.

ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has told Wiper Party to prepare for a tough battle.

Speaking in Nyahururu town on Wednesday, Sifuna maintained that Sumra will face off with Wiper, during the April 5, by election.

The Secretary General has said that the party refuses to bow down to wiper’s pressure to withdraw their candidate and instead back the wiper contender as the Supreme court had proved that Sumra’s victory had been ‘stolen’.

Sifuna noted that it was a democratic right for every party to support its own candidate and that was what ODM was doing.
