Dennis Itumbi has taken to twitter to express that he has taken issue with NTV’s tweet over Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed’s remarks over HELB loan in Kenya defaulters police hunt

NTV tweeted,””Helb to partner with police and other crime busters to hunt down over 74,000 loan defaulters; CS Amina Mohamed says Sh7.2bn yet to be repaid.?

Dennis Itumbi then replied to Nation saying he sincerely thinks the tweet was unfair on the remarks made by CS Amina Mohamed. He clarified saying she mentioned defaulters with a job

Itumbi mentioned that that qualification is very important.”Surely if you have income,pay off and have another Kenyan benefit”

News spread on Wednesday that Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed said there is going to a serious chase of loan defaulters as the High Education Loans Board (Helb) seeks to recover over 7.2 billion owed by 74,000 defaulters.

She said the crackdown would start any time from now and asked employers to help in tracking them down.

“We are also going to partner with our law enforcement agencies to track down those holding jobs and yet are reluctant to stand up to be counted as responsible and patriotic citizens who honour their debts,” she said.

Kenyans have since created an uproar over Amina’s statement lamenting on the unemployment rate in Kenya that does not allow youths to repay the education debt
