EACC now wants to move from 1.5 Billion Integrity Center office

EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission’s (EACC) officials on Wednesday tabled a proposal to be moved to bigger offices, citing that the current Integrity Center offices have become too small for their expanded operations.

Appearing before the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak said, “The current space is too small for our current workforce. Mr Chairman, I invite your committee to pay us a visit and see for yourselves how squeezed we are.”

This is despite taxpayers coughing up Sh1.5 billion in 1997 to acquire the premises.

The Integrity Center, located at the junction of Valley Road and Jakaya Kikwete roads measures 0.4867 hectares and before acquiring the building, EACC was paying a monthly rent of Sh5.83 million, which comes to Sh70 million a year.
