It has emerged that Premier League sent Sala’s contract back to Cardiff to be corrected and re-signed but Sala went missing before they could do so

Emiliano Sala’s family could miss out on £600,000 in compensation for the striker’s death due to a mistake made by Cardiff City in registering his contract with the Premier League.

According to the Times, the paperwork was returned to Cardiff to be corrected and re-signed by Sala, but he died before he was able to do so.

Players registered with the Premier League automatically become part of the Professional Footballers’ Association’s pension scheme.

But because Sala’s contract didn’t go through, his family could miss out on the lump sum.

The 28-year-old’s private jet went missing over the English channel on January 21, three days after signing for Cardiff in a £15m deal. He was confirmed dead on February 8.
