Graduates mock HELB as it seeks to engage police in loan recovery

The ‘netisphere‘ was yesterday awash with mocks and jokes as graduates and purportedly loan defaulters looked down on CS Amina Mohamed’s announcement that HELB will now engage police.

Earlier, the CS announced that Higher Educations Loans Board would work with the police to recover about Sh7.2 billion in the hands of over 74,000 defaulters as education loan.

The Government is in a dire need of cash to admit new students to tertiary institutions. The available money is not enough and so it resolved to the ‘regrettable’ means.

Many of the responses, purportedly by the defaulters indicted to unemployment as the critical reason for defaulting.

Fabio Da Cosy on facebook told them to first look for the money lost in the NYS scandals.

Others complained that recovering money from unemployed people would be a fishing spree into a desert.

Cyrus Austine Luvai gave his location to ease the police’s job of looking for him. He said he is at Githurai 44
