Man eat man society: Wamatangi reacts on his property demolition at Nyayo Stadium

Kiambu Senator, Kimani Wamatangi

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has finally responded to claims that he grabbed Kenya Railways land that saw his business structures near Nyayo Stadium demolished last week.

The Jubilee Party Senator condemned the demolitions saying he was wrongly targeted as he had all the necessary documents proving that he obtained the land legally.

Speaking during a TV interview on TuesdayV, he said the property has been leased to him by the Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC).

“I know I am not above the law. That is land that was leased to me. We have been there for 20 years,” Wamatangi said, adding he has never received a notice ordering him to vacate.

Speaking during the same show, Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot defended his Senate counterpart saying it was wrong to demolish the multi-million million structures without notice.

“I have seen the documents that he (Wamatangi) has presented and I don’t have any reason to doubt himm. We support the multi-agency team doing this, but they would only do us a greater service if they did it within the confines of the law,” Cheruiyot said.

Tongaren Member of Parliament Eseli Simiyu echoed similar sentiments and castigated the government for commissioning “unlawful’ demolitions.

“I think Wamatangi is unfortunatee. There is a valid lease agreement. Wamatangi seems to have followed the law, he didn’t put up permanent structures,” Simiyu said.
