Government Trashes Rumor Surrounding Huduma Namba Registration.

Earlier in the day, the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) petitioned court intending to revoke the ongoing Huduma Namba registration that was launched yesterday by the Interior PS Kibicho, the human rights body stressed the issue on grounds that Kenya does not have laws or policies on information protection.

The Huduma Namba Registration will see both citizens and foreigners register across 15 selected counties and it’s mandatory for all citizens, Ps Kibicho noted with concern that once the number becomes operational, he who doesn’t have it won’t have access to government services.

However, after the news of intentions to revoke the registration by the Kenya Human Rights Commission and resitance hit the media, citizens might have had a backlash to register, government came out to rule out the mischief surrounding the Huduma namba registrations.

“The ultimate objective of this program is to establish a central master population register that will be the authentic single source of truth for a person’s identity. There is no other motive behind this and those propagating lies about this project should stop” Said the Interior PS Kibicho.

He further called on Kenyans not to fear and volunteer themselves to register and they should treat all information restraining them to register with possible resistance saying this will also help the government to deliver services to the people.
