Fresh Registration in 15 Counties Enters the Second Day

The registration of Kenyans in 15 counties will enter the day two on Tuesday.

Reports from the government states that 31, 500 biometric kits have been delivered to counties as they proceed with the exercise expected to improve government data on Kenya’s citizens.

The National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) will capture a person’s data: age, gender, level of education, marital status, place of residence, source of livelihood and others.

Besides helping the government to plan well for the service delivery to Kenyans, the system is also highly expected to enhance national security.

This is after the members of the parliament passed a miscellaneous amendments that gave the government the right to take DNA data for all Kenyan citizens follows the passing of miscellaneous amendments that also gave the government powers to take DNA data of all Kenyans.

However, the fresh registration has caught many Kenyans with fears that their data could fall in the hands of wrong people.

This made the Interior CS Karanja Kibicho to assure Kenyans that there are no weired motive towards the process and that all data are on safe hands.

The program has been launched Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Kajiado, Baringo, Marsabit, Kisii, Wajir, Kilifi, Tana River Embu, Makueni, Busia, Nyandarua and Kiambu counties.

The process was supposed to be launched in Kisumu on Monday but was postponed to Tuesday.
