Driver to truck involved in Chepsir accident faces the full wrath of the NTSA

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has revoked the driving license of the truck driver who was involved in an accident that killed 8 people on the Kericho-Nakuru highway.

In a statement, NTSA said the license of the errant driver had been revoked permanently after it was determined that he was driving on the wrong lane.

Investigations show that the driver was driving down a climbing lane onto the oncoming traffic and consequently collided with a South Rift PSV Matatu.

“The revocation was necessitated by the fact that the driver is a danger to all road users and should never be allowed to drive on Kenyan roads,” the NTSA statement read.

Officials of the Green Line bus company have also been summoned for a hearing on Wednesday, February 20, to deliberate on appropriate action following the accident.

Five people died on the spot in the accident that gripped headlines on Friday, February 15. One victim died on the way to the Kericho district hospital while two others succumbed while receiving treatment.
