U.S tourist arrested for assault of a local and resisting arrest in Narok

An American tourist is set to be arraigned in court on Monday following a fight that ensued between him and a businessman in Narok.

Narok OCPD, Joseph Kosombe, cited that Amando Kurti from Alabama, United States will be arraigned in court for assault and resisting arrest.

His partner, Danielle Olivier, who hails from New Zealand, accused the police of taking sides claiming that the businessman, known as Muneer Ishmael, caused the fight.

Oliver narrated that Ishmael, a petrol station owner, manhandled her as she was withdrawing money from the Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

“We were on our way to Nairobi from Maasai Mara Game Reserve when we stopped to fuel our car and fix some mechanical problems,” stated Oliver. “While I was at the ATM, the man started pushing and slapping me on the face as he demanded to know why I had parked the car at the wrong place,” she continued.

When Oliver told her partner, he alighted from the vehicle and demanded to know why Ishmael assaulted her. It is then that the two started exchanging blows. According to local reports, both Kisombe and Ishmael suffered serious injuries on the face.

The OCPD added that the two tourists fled towards Mai Mahiu after assaulting the petrol station owner but were seized at a roadblock in Ntulele trading center.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina has however accused the police of taking sides.
