On Monday evening, Manchester United and Chelsea will go head to head within the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge. Thus, with Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard out for a couple of weeks, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed to Manchester United media his thoughts on playing the youth in the new edition of the English classic:

“I was looking, with Anthony and Jesse out, to get Mason [Greenwood] in but unfortunately he has got an injury as well so we won’t be able to blood him either, which is unfortunate for the boy.

“Angel [Gomes] and Chongy [Tahith Chong] have been training with us, and they have been doing well, so they might be involved in that game.”

Greenwood, 17, is believed to be one of the brightest attacking talents in England. The striker has scored 38 goals in 41 appearances for United’s U18 and U23 sides so far, however, is yet to be featured for the senior team.

Chong, 19, on the opposite, has played under Ole, however, his 28-minute cameo in the FA Cup clash against Reading could hardly allow to make any far-reaching conclusions on his prospects. The Dutchman’s display on the right wing during the summer tour, as well as for the reserve side, left a mainly positive impression.

Finally, Gomes, 18, has even featured once for Solskjaer’s side in the Premier League – the Englishman played 9 minutes in the 3-1 win over Huddersfield back in December. The technically-gifted attacking midfielder has scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists for Richard Sbragia’s lads this season so far.
