Mandago Rejects Ruto’s Fertilizer

Uasin-Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has rejected a farm inputs subsidy program proposed by Deputy President William Ruto to farmers.

A deal worth billions of shillings between an international firm and maize farmers in the region now lays in an unknown fate following the rejection.

It is alleged that Mandago’s political for Bundotich Zedekiah a.k.a Buzeki was at the top of the deal hence eliciting rejection from the governor.

Mandago claimed that the firm was working with untrustworthy officials from the Ministry of Agriculture to profit from the Sh4.5 billion put aside by the State to import financed fertilizer.

Talking in Eldoret town, Mandago said agriculturists would end up paying more to get the fertilizer.

“We feel that the partnership between our farmers and the foreign company  is not genuine,” said Mandago

This comes after last Friday’s order by Deputy President William to the Agriculture service and National Treasury to buy financed compost for ranchers.

Talking in Uasin Gishu area during the burial of Leonard Yator, who an ally to former President Daniel Moi, Ruto said one million sacks of fertilizer had been purchased and requested that the two services buy two million additional packs.
