Manchester United to use Romelu Lukaku as bait in deal to land Juventus star

This summer is set to be a big one for Manchester United in the transfer market as they look to heavily back their new permanent manager whether that be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Mauricio Pochettino or someone else entirely.

News this morning emerged that the club were ready to get rid of Romelu Lukaku, having run out of patience with the Belgian striker. Now United are eyeing up some big-name replacements for the striker, including Mauro Icardi of Inter Milan and also Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

Although Icardi, who has just been stripped of the captaincy at Inter, seems an easier target, The Mirror report that Lukaku himself would prefer a move to Juventus. This leaves Manchester United in the position to sanction a potential swap deal between Dybala and Lukaku.

Dybala and Lukaku are both 25-years-old but the Argentine has a higher market value than Lukaku, meaning United are likely to have to part with some cash if they are to land the talented goalscorer. If United can convince Juventus that Lukaku would be a good fit for them, then they should do anything possible to make this deal happen.

In Dybala, they would have a serious star of world football. The left-footer prefers to play in a number ten role but can operate on the right-wing or as the central striker. United without Lukaku would be able to play the free-flowing football we have seen under Solskjaer, with Rashford, Lingard, Martial and Dybala all combining to terrify Premier League defences.

Paul Pogba would be then placed in a slightly more defensive role although if he is partnered with Nemanja Matic he would still be able to get forward and join in with the attacks, as he does in the current set-up. Seriously mouth-watering stuff for United fans.

Ed Woodward must try and pull off this deal, which could transform Manchester United into Premier League title contenders once more.
