A row over alleged auctioning of oil and gas blocks in Kenya’s maritime territorial area that borders Somalia has escalated after Nairobi decided to cut diplomatic relations with Mogadishu over a claim that the latter had auctioned oil blocks located in a disputed border area.
One Abukar Awale dared tweet that to respond to Kenya’s disproportionate behaviour by cutting all servies including flights from Somalia to Kenya, penalising Somali citizens and their daily services; Somalia should respond robustly in kind by stoping all Khat importation into Somalia from Kenya.

We remember how they cried last time when the government stoped Kenyan khat, let us give them the same lesson!

Kenyans clapped back with humanitarian aid they give to them asking if they can survive without it.
My sister even if your govt managed to stop the importation of khat what will be your govt response if Kenya stop entry of humanitarian aid within its territorial boundaries and closure of refugees camp…

Others bashed the remarks by saying it was unfortunate in the latest diplomatic developemnts between Kenya and Somalia all some somali can think of is khat.
It’s so unfortunate for the latest diplomatic developments BTW Kenya/Somalia. All what matters to you is #Khat unknowingly the fact that Kenya welcomed Somali refugees, families, investors, and business people till now. To me, Kenya is our first door brother.

One Somali unhappy with the Khat sentiment mentioned that miraa importation should be illegalized as its a problem to millions of Somali for economic and social wellbeing.
Flights between Somalia and Kenya boosts trade, humanitarian aid and medical services so forth but Miraa importation should be illegalized. It is a problem to millions of Somalis for economic, social wellbeing. https://t.co/8ubijEZ1Bl
