What Ozil said after missing Arsenal loss to BATE

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has urged his teammate to ‘bounce back’ when they take on BATE Borisov in the return leg of Europa League of their last 32 tie next week.

The Gunners suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Belarus as their striker Alexandre Lacazette saw red in the 85th minute. Ozil who missed Huddersfield clash due to illness once again did not travel to Belarus despite resuming full training with the Arsenal squad. After the defeat, the retired Germany international posted on his Twitter account urging his side to make amends in the return leg at the Emirates.

“Not the result we wanted, but we still can do it in the 2nd leg and reach the next round. Let’s bounce back at the Emirates especially for our fans,” he posted.

It remains to be seen if Unai Emery, who defended his decision of not including Arsenal in the squad will be handed a starting role next week.

“Every player is okay to play. Today those that were here, we can win with them and we deserved that. Last week we won and we played with the same players,” said Emery when asked if Arsenal miss Ozil’s creativity
