Should Sanchez return to Arsenal? Here what Gunner legend thinks

Alexis Sanchez has been tipped to leave Manchester United after a disappointing spell and rejoin former side Arsenal, according to Marc Overmars.

The Arsenal legend believes the north London side will be open to taking the Chilean back who has struggled to recapture his form at Old Trafford. Overmars still has great respect for Sanchez but believes he may have made a mistake to ditch the Gunners in favour of the Red Devils. The Ajax director of football believes his former side has the door open for Sanchez to make a sensational return because he feels the club has failed to replace him.

“I have great respect for Alexis because he did extremely well in Arsenal, I do not know if it was a good decision to leave,” said Overmars.

“English football changes you, it turns you around, it took me a step forward. Arsene Wenger arrived a year before me, Dennis Bergkamp made a big impression in England, it was a fantastic time, I think we changed the history of the club a bit.”

“This type of players were very important for Arsenal because that’s where they take you to focus, after Alexis, Arsenal tried to sign another player like that, but he was not given, so he could go back to Arsenal.”

The 45-year-old won the Premier League and FA Cup during his three-year stay at Highbury under former boss Arsene Wenger.
