Pulisic backs Sarri in confident remarks

The USA international agreed to a £57.5m move to Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window but will remain on loan at Borussia Dortmund until the summer.

But his new club have hit a rough patch since he agreed to the move and have dropped to sixth in the Premier League after a poor run of results.

Indeed, the Blues have lost their last three league games away from home 2-0, 4-0, and 6-0.

The most recent 6-0 defeat – to champions Manchester City – has led to calls for Sarri to leave with former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane being linked.

Pulisic was in London on Wednesday with Dortmund, who were playing Tottenham in the Champions League last-16 first leg at Wembley.

Speaking after the game, which his team lost 3-0, Pulisic was asked about the fortunes of his new club.

“It’s tough for me to say,” Pulisic said.

“They’ve has some tough results but I know they’re going to work it out.

Pulisic showed the Chelsea fans what they could be in for though in the first-half against Spurs.

And he got another taste of the Wembley atmosphere after already experiencing it in an international friendly for the USA against England.

“Tottenham are a great side and this is a good competition,” he added.

“Obviously I’m young and I’m definitely looking forward to next season.”

Dortmund face a big task if they are to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

They know they will need to score at least three goals in the return leg but should Spurs score they will need at least five goals to have any chance of progressing.
