Police have dispelled clims that a badly mutilated body discovered in Sagana is that of missing Dandora human rights activist Caroline Mwatha.
A police source, who sought anonymity, said they contacted the family and confirmed the remains are not of their daughter.
The officer said they responded after members of the public called a police station after seeing the body of the woman by the roadside on Tuesday morning.
“However we are not taking any chances, we are extending the search to where every lead will send us,” the officer said.
Mwatha, a senior official at Dandora Community Social Justice Center, disappeared last Wednesday.
She had been documenting cases of enforced disappearance and police extrajudicial killings, including the cold-blooded murder of six Dandora residents in October last year.
