Police inquest into the gruesome murder of businesswoman Mary Wambui continues to take new and fresh twists everyday.
The police are determined to put the matter to bed within the shortest time possible and to achieve that, a number of arrests have already been made in connection with the same.
Among those arrested include Joseph Kori, the late Wambui’s husband and Judy Wangui, Kori’s mistress.
As the investigations continue to unfold, all fingers are seemingly being pointed at Mrs Wangui who is accused of killing Mrs Wambui before hatching a plan to dispose her body with the help of a Taxi driver who is also in police custody.
Mrs Wangui is a guest of the state but her stay in remand is apparently not going as planned.
She has claimed that the police subjected her to torture and even put pepper in her private parts.
Judy Wangui said the officers wanted to compel her to change her earlier statement.
Wangui, through lawyer Cliff Ombeta, told Kiambu Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo that she was tortured at Juja police station.
She said two policewomen assaulted her on Friday night.
The court heard that the suspect has marks on her thighs and the upper part of her body. Atambo ordered a report on the assault allegations to be submitted in the next mention date.
The court at the same time gave investigators nine more days to hold the three suspects linked to the murder until February 27 when the case will be mentioned.
The prosecution told the magistrate the investigation is complex hence the need for more time.
But defence lawyers opposed the application, saying nothing is being done by police.
