Two women were on Wednesday charged with spiking a man’s drink in Lang’ata, Nairobi and robbing him of Ksh.1.9 million.
The two appeared before Milimani Law Court Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, Joyce Britney and Florence Wangare and were charged that on January 17, 2019 they administered a stupefying chemical substance known as Rohypnol on Fredrick Omondi Okati at Ngei 11 Estate in Langata with an intent to steal from him.
The court heard that they also unlawfully transferred Ksh.1,940,000 from Mr. Okati’s account held at the Stanbic Bank, into several accounts held at Equity Bank, Family Bank and M-Pesa accounts.
The two were further charged jointly with others not before court with conspiracy to stupefy in order to steal.
Britney, who was busted with a pack containing 7 one-miligram tablets of Rohypnol, was also said to have stolen Mr. Omondi’s mobile phone and ATM card all valued at Ksh.23,000.
She, hence, faced several other counts of electronic fraud, stealing and handling stolen properties against the law.
Britney was released on a bond of Ksh.1 million with alternative cash bail of Ksh.300,000 while Florence was released on a bond of Ksh.500,000 with alternative cash bail of Ksh.200,000.
