UGANDA:Police Crack whip on churches accused of sexual assault and rape

Police summoned up to 20 pastors for questioning in Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso district over allegations of ritual sacrifice and rape in their churches.

The head of homicide department of Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) told Uganda’s government newspaper, New Vision, that assistants religious leaders in different churches were taking advantage of vulnerable young girls and women to lure them into sexual activities.

This comes a few days after Kenya’s youth pastor, Ken Gomeri, was accused of preying on school girls and taking advantage of them during school ministering. Sharing the information through Toboa initiative, Xtiandela, said that he did not regret exposing Gomeri as itis for the good of the community.
The recent misconducts from religious leaders have raised the government’s eyebrows on matters to do with religion.
Uganda, according to Okoth Ocholla, will scrutinize the church leadership in urban and local churches like her neighboring country, Rwanda.
Rwanda made a huge turn in shutting down churches that do not follow doctrines of the bible and that all churches to be built using stones.
