What Michelle Obama Said about Music During Grammy’s award 2019

Despite the many definitions of music that have been documented, everyone has a unique perception and feelings towards music. For some people it is soothing, for others its educative while for the majority it’s entertaining.

However, Michelle Obama brought out a unique definition of music during the Grammy’s Award Ceremony which took place on February 10, 2019, at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

A Grammy Award (stylized as GRAMMY, originally called Gramophone Award), or Grammy, is an award presented by The Recording Academy to recognize achievements in the music industry. The annual presentation ceremony features performances by prominent artists and the presentation of those awards that have a more popular interest. It shares recognition of the music industry as that of the other performance awards such as the Academy Awards (film), the Emmy Awards (television), and the Tony Awards (theater).

The ceremony would recognize the best recordings, compositions, and artists of the eligibility year, which ran from October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018. Nominations were announced on December 7, 2018.

While opening the grand Ceremony together with, Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, and Jada Pinkett Smith, Michelle Obama said that music has helped her tell her story. She added that despite the kind of Genre of music we like, music helps us share ourselves.

It is in this ceremony where the Soweto Choir was awarded the Best World Music album for ‘Freedom’ which was their 3rd Grammy award. Many people including President Cyril Ramaphosa of the Republic of South Africa have gone to social media to congratulate them for the good work.

Thumbs up! Soweto choir for representing South Africa, Africa, and the world through Music!! just like michelle Obama says music helps us tell our story,  this choir tells a story of freedom through incredible notes.
