Amnesty International Speaks About Missing Human Rights Activist Caroline Mwatha

Where is Caroline Mwatha? The Dandora based human rights activist has been missing since Wednesday last week. Her distraught family has gone to an extend of looking for her body in morgues.

Mwatha is a senior official at Dandora Community Social Justice Center. She had been documenting cases of enforced disappearance and police extrajudicial killings, including the cold blood murder of six Dandora residents in October last year.

You therefore understand why her disappearance has raised an uproar. There is a probability that she crossed paths with powerful individuals in her line of work.

Amnesty International has issued a statement appealing to the National Police and DCI to do their best to find the missing woman. The body has revealed that it is concerned with the threats human rights have been facing in Kenya.

“In the recent past Human Rights Defenders have been facing threats and harrassments and we hope Caroline has not fallen into these traps.” Amnesty said on its official Twitter handle.
