Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said the referendum will expand the executive and allow Uhuru to seek a third term.
According to him, there is general consensus among opposition political parties to team up with President Uhuru Kenyatta to oversee the review exercise.
“I foresee a situation where Wiper Democratic Movement will go into coalition with Jubilee, ODM, ANC, Ford Kenya and form one indivisible political juggernaut ambaye itaproduce the next Prime Minister under a new Constitution.
During a meeting of Kamba leaders in Machakos County on Friday, the Wiper leader claimed that the current Constitution is skewed to winner-takes-it-all and the ripple effect is a balkanised nation.
Kalonzo is rooting for an expanded Executive in the Constitutional review process.
“But now we have found a solution and the solution is our preparedness to amend our Constitution and to make this country once and for all an all-inclusive State,” he said.
The Wiper leader dropped hints saying: “Tuungane, with other communities, tumsaidie ndugu Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. Kama atasema after the new Constitution tumeiunda na mimi nataka kuendelea mbele ntamwambia nitakusupport (Let’s come together with other communities and help our brother Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta. If he says after the new Constitution that he wants to proceed I will support him).”
On his part, Kajiado Central MP Memusi Kanchor said: “Kiongozi atakaye chukua baada ya Rais Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta hatatoka mbali na Kalonzo, hatatoka mbali na Raila, hatatoka mbali na hao wengine walioko NASA (The leader who will take over from President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta will not come far from Kalonzo, Raila or others in the National Super Alliance–NASA coalition).”
Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama added: “Tunaomba Mungu uwezo wake uonekane, Kalonzo aingie na wale wengine tukipindua katiba vile tunatengeneza tujitawale Kenya yetu iwe hakuna madaraka ya mtu mmoja..madaraka ni ya watu wote (We pray to God that his power is revealed, Kalonzo ascends to power with the others when we review the Constitution so that we create a Kenya where freedom is not for one person but for everyone).”
