Sophia Njeri became the talk of town on Tuesday, February 5, after she filmed rogue traffic police officers harassing an elderly woman.
Because of her courage to dare video record the reprobate officers who were evidently misusing authority, she was arrested, released on bail and booked to appear in court. This after Kenyans made lots of noise online demanding for her release.
However, the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) at Makadara court on Friday, February 8, rejected the charges against her.
“We cannot charge anyone just because the police have arrested her filming them do their work, we rejected the file since it is not a crime to take a film in public,” one of the prosecutors said.
Miss Njeri’s lawyer, John Lewis lawyer also revealed the woman would be also appear before the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) just to get clarity on how the she was handled by the police.
“The EACC called me yesterday and they want to schedule an interview with her, just to get more clarity on how she was handled by the police officers,” said Lewis .
Do you think real action will be taken on the police men.
