Why Turkana will soon be the heart of Kenya’s tourist attraction

Turkana County is aiming to be the heart of Kenya’s tourist attraction by laying out strategies and programs to boost their tourism sector.

Earlier yesterday, Turkana Governor Nanok held discussions with the tourism CS Najib Balala.

Turkana Governor stated that they are planning to work closely with  the ministry of tourism to ensure that they will be part of the contributors in that sector.

The governor says that they have plans to use the culture of the local people as the major attraction.

They also discussed on how to conserve the wildlife sector and ensure that  the national game reserve is kept at it’s best.

Josphat Nanok added that this will be done by protecting animals in the reserve.

The governor plans of partnering with other counties to work on more sustainable festivals and events in the line of culture.

Najib Balala’s ministry will support the county to ensure the creation of new products as well as helping in the maintenance of the existing ones.

The Governor made it clear that their intention is to make Turkana be a contributor to the Kenyan economy.

For so long the county has been known for being consumers of the efforts of other counties and Josphat Nanok says that this will have to change.

The  governor stated that their revenue  contribution will go a long way to building and transforming the county.
