shock at Governor Obado’s county as former mca aspirant goes broke

Political campaigns drains one all money leaving you broke than you would imagine. This has been proved by Ian Harriel Kowiti, former aspirant member of county assembly of Uriri constituency, Migori county. Kowiti tried his hands in politics in the last General Election as an independent candidate.

It seem the campaigns drained of all his money since he is now selling one of his testicles for sale for Sh500,000 and one of his kidneys for Sh1.5 million for ‘a local client,’ and three times that amount for ‘client’ based outside the country.

He says that he is selling his precious gem to better his life. Although he explains that money is not the motivation for selling his kidney he goes ahead to say, ”I wouldn’t mind donating my kidney, it’s only that I am now financially constrained and wouldn’t mind some cash in exchange for the organ. If I were to donate my kidney, the interested party would have to cater for the cost of surgery and my travel expenses that is if the operation has to take place outside the country.”

During campaigns, the politicians use a lot of money to lure the citizens into voting them in. They have to fuel all the vehicles used to campaign for them and the people involved in the campaigns. Some go an extra mile of donating food and clothing thinking such services will win people’s hearts. After all they are assured that once they are voted in, their pockets will be ‘heavy’ with cash from the government.

If the citizens loves you and want you as their leader, they will surely vote you in without considering what you give them. The citizens are more concerned with what you will deliver after they vote you in not what you give during the campaigns.

Unlike the 22-year-old Joseph Minjire Gaku who campaigned using a wheelbarrow consisting of a loud speaker, a battery, an amplifier and a microphone and an MCA candidate, Simon Muturi Muthee who campaigned using a bicycle and ended up clinching the Jubilee ticket during the primaries, it seem Kowiti used all he had for the campaigns which were not successful since he was not voted in.

Do you think money determines one success in political campaigns?
