Return date for Liverpool attack maestro revealed

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed Oxlade Chamberlain could make his comeback in April after a long lay off.  Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t played a game since the knee injury he sustained in the first leg of the semi-final against Roma in the same competition last season, but he has been added the Reds’ Champions League squad for the remainder of this campaign.

The England midfielder has been progressing with his fitness in recent months, and was pictured joining in with team training at the club’s warm weather camp in Dubai last month. And Klopp provided an update on the former Arsenal man at his press conference ahead of facing Bournemouth on Saturday.  “If we got to the semis of the Champions League again he should be available, quarter-finals maybe,” he said. “We put him in the Champions League squad as we think there’s the chance for him to play.

The first legs of the quarter-finals take on April 9 and 10, with the return legs a week later. Klopp – who also confirmed that the Reds will jet off for another training camp after the Bournemouth game – also provided updates on the fitness of five other players prior to taking on the Cherries.

The German ruled Dejan Lovren out of the game, and said that the Reds are working on getting Joe Gomez back fit in “four to six weeks”. And there were also updates on Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum, all of whom were pictured at training on Thursday . “Trent trained yesterday for the first time and didn’t mention any issues or any problems,” he said.

“After three-and-half weeks it was his first session. We need to see what we do with that. “Jordan trained yesterday as well for the first time, it’s not that long a break but it was a muscle injury he had, obviously. We need to have another look today. “Gini trained yesterday completely normal. That’s how it is. I don’t know in the moment, we will have to see.”
