prison break! thika criminals have done it again

We always watch some acts in movies and think that they never happen in reality. Seven suspects who were held at Makongeni Police Station have proved that they can be good than what you watch in movies after they have escaped to their freedom.

An OB record reads that the police officer on duty was disturbed by a soft knock on the wall and on getting outside to check what was happening confirmed what he would never think of; “The police officer saw a person dash across the motorcycles parking yard and promptly raised alarm.”Once the officers came out, the other suspects started making noise to attract the their attention .

The officers decided to go check out in the cells and on arrival they were informed by the suspects  being held there that seven of them had escaped. Those who escaped seem to have skills or maybe they had learnt their skills from movie since they found their way out by cutting  the metal grill off the police cell’s ceiling.

The seven included five,Paul K Ngui, John M Wambui, David Karanja, Benson Kimani and Kelvin Gaitho robbery with violence suspects; and two others;Harun Kibe Njoroge and Josphat Muturi arrested over trafficking narcotics.

Its alleged that the suspects who escaped have been held at the station for a long time. This could be the reason as to why they were able to escape smartly without being caught. They already had a good knowledge of the entire station and that’s why they were successful.

The escape reportedly prompted a meeting of top regional security officials to address the circumstances that led to the security lapse.

Thika criminals seem to be ‘smart’ .This comes after other criminals dug a 30-metre-long tunnel into a bank’s strong room and stole more than Sh50 million. The criminals were daring enough that they dug the tunnel from inside a stall opposite the Thika divisional police headquarters, where they had been running a bookshop, through which they accessed the local Kenya Commercial Bank branch and stole the money. The suspects are said  to be young people, hardly known around Thika.

Are criminals at Thika becoming smarter than the police?
