Glen Johnson is unconvinced about Man Utd’s title credentials.

That’s according to former Liverpool and Chelsea defender Glen Johnson.

United started the season in miserable form and their demise led to Jose Mourinho being sacked.

The Portuguese was replaced by club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is in charge on an interim basis until the end of the season.

It’s unclear who will be in charge next year but Solskjaer’s start has led to suggestions he could be set to land the gig permanently.

United have won nine of their 10 games under the Norwegian and they look imperious going forward in an attacking system.

The Red Devils are on track to finish in the top four and Jesse Lingard said this week that they’re capable of winning the league next term.

But Johnson is unconvinced and doesn’t think their purple patch will last.

“I personally don’t think so,” he said on talkSPORT when asked if they can challenge for the title next season.

“Obviously you appreciate Jesse’s comments as it stands today.

“But they’re not going to carry this form throughout next season.

“They’re going to drop points at some stage, something’s going to happen, things will change.

“But of course you can’t underestimate the form they are in and obviously they’re fun to watch again and it is like United of old.

“They are putting in great performances and they’re picking up points which look quite easy.

“So of course if they play like this all of next season then they will have a chance but I can’t see them sustaining it.

“It’s so tough to do this, perform like this for such a long period of time.

“And of course a lot can happen over the summer, things can change, players come in and players go out so they might have a totally different squad next season.”
