Jesse Lingard reveals message Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gives Man Utd players before every game

Jesse Lingard says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sends his Manchester United players out with the same message as when he was in charge of the reserves.

Lingard played under the Norwegian as a 17-year-old and remembers being called up by him to represent the Red Devils reserve team in the final match of their season

Manchester United  faced Burnley at Turf Moor, and Lingard recalls he was “buzzing” at the prospect of testing himself at a higher level and potentially earning a £240 win bonus.

Ahead of the match, which United went on to win 1-0, Solskjaer had a quick conversation with the teenager before sending him out onto the pitch.

And interestingly, the message is the same as the one he uses today before sending his senior players out to take teams on in the Premier League.

“He [Solskjaer] said ‘Enjoy the game’. He still tells us that now. ‘Play with a smile on your face, play attacking football and win the game,'” Lingard told The Telegraph.

Solskjaer took the reins from Jose Mourinho on December 19 after the Portuguese was sacked following a 3-1 defeat by Liverpool.

The Norwegian has made a superb start at Old Trafford and has won nine of his opening ten matches in charge, drawing the other.
