Murdered Odira’s brother threatened with death

Mildred Odira’s brother, Carrington Ogweno has reported death threats from unknown people. He says he was threatened by two people who were on a motorcycle as he was leaving his home yesterday.

He says he will go on with the search of his sister’s killers despite the threats; ”We left there at 8pm in the night and there were two guys following us (me and my cousin, Boniface Kaseo). Today in the morning around 7am, I opened my gate and found two guys on a motorcycle and they warned me ‘drop Mildred’s case or follow your sister’…Even with all these threats, I am not moved, if Milly’s case will take me to the ground, I am ready, so be it. It is so painful, mtu anachinja mtoto wenu kama Mildred then again come to threaten you. Let them come and kill me but the truth will stand.”

Mildred is said to have left her home on 29th January morning to Ruaraka Uhai Neema hospital. She was suffering from ulcers and high blood pressure hence had been on medication.A guard is said to have called a taxi driver to take Mildred to hospital. Her son raised an alarm after he failed to attend school rather went looking for his mom at his aunt’s home.

Her body was later found at city mortuary where mortuary results showed that it was taken there the same day she went missing. Post mortem results showed that she was hit with a blunt object on the head where a deep injury was found. They also found out that she was run over by a moving vehicle since her legs had been crushed.

Millie Odhiambo,Suba MP, who was with the family yesterday urged the police to protect Mildred’s family. She added, “Most of the injuries likely occurred after her death. The injuries were consistent with someone who was lying down.”

Brian Weke,Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Education in Democracy, also urged the authorities to quicken investigations on Mildred’s death.

The estate guard who called the taxi and the taxi driver are being held at Kasarani police station.

What sin would such a beauty have committed to deserve such a cruel death?
