Museveni must go! Babu Owino gives Ugandans the key to their freedom

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has found himself under heavy criticism after he called for the assassination of an African sitting Head of State.

In a Facebook post which has caused a stir online, the controversial MP said Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni must be removed from power either through an election or violence.

The first-time legislator said Museveni, who has ruled the neighbouring country since 1986, must leave power to Uganda opposition MP Bobi Wine.

“Museveni must be out by ballot or bullet. Bobi Wine for President,” Owino posted on Sunday night.

Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentam) is the MP for Kyaddondo East constituency and before he ventured into politics he was a successful musician.

Last week the reggae artist said he was “seriously considering” joining race to the State House in the 2021 general election where Museveni has already declared his interest in defending his seat.

The youthful MP has asked Ugandans to be ready to “free themselves’ from the dictatorial regime, adding he is leading a campaign to ensure young people are registering as voters.

“Ugandans cannot be free unless they free themselves from military rule and lawless rule,” he said in an interview with CNN.

“We believe that by the time we get to the election which is about two years away, we will have many Ugandans registered as voters and overwhelming Museveni looks like our only way out,” Wine added.

The politician was recently in Nairobi for a series of interviews and public talks courtesy of Babu Owino.
