Frustrated Gor Mahia ace was warned about SA move

Former Gor Mahia head coach Dylan Kerr feels Ugandan should have listened when he advised him against joining Kaizer Chiefs.

The left-back was released by Amakhosi before the close of the transfer window on January 31, after making 14 appearances for the Soweto giants in the first half of the season.

“Walusimbi was for me a fantastic player, good athlete and [has] energy to go forward and deliver,” Kerr tells KickOff.com.

“When he left, he left to better himself but he did it all wrong especially as I told him he could not go, resulting in his departure affecting our Confed Cup progress.

“I’m surprised he’s been released but the pressure of playing for Chiefs is immense, the pressure to perform daily, you have to be at the best at all times.

Kerrs added: “Sometimes players become scapegoats and Ernst [Chiefs coach Middendorp] must have his football reasons, but Waza was very successful at Gor Mahia, and sometimes the grass is not always greener and new pastures don’t always work out as in this case.
