Joho set to “discipline” 3 MPs and a governor over their alleged malicious claims against him

Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to 3 MPs and a governor after they alleged he was a notorious drug lord.

In a letter through Ochieng K & Company Advocates, Joho mentions that remarks by his Nandi counterpart Stephen Sang’, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa, Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) and Oscar Sudi (kapsaret) were malicious and reckless.

“The statements were not only reckless but made with utmost malevolence, wickedness, were offensive and meant to inflict the greatest harm to our client’s reputation,” lawyer ken Ochieng’ wrote.

Ochieng’ stated that the remarks had inflicted great prejudice against Joho and caused extreme damage to his good reputation and “brought him public ridicule”.

During a presser at Parliament Building on January 28, the leaders claimed Joho uses his position to advance and cover up his illicit business of drug trafficking.

Joho mentioned the statement portrayed him as a criminal, corrupt and a dishonest person.

The governor opined that their remarks were a projection of anger towards him in a bid to gain political mileage.

The lawyer warned that failure to offer apology and admit liability will force him to move to court and seek aggravated and exemplary damages.

“We have instructions to immediately set into motion legal action against you for defamation and seek damages for your spurious and slanderous statements.”

He also wants them to pull down all audio and video publications in various social media platforms.Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to 3 MPs and a governor after they alleged he was a notorious drug lord.
