NAKURU court frees Kabazi MCA Peter Mbae, eight others on Sh200,000 bond over the Solai dam tragedy.The Legislature were arrested Yesterday after fracas erupted as the authorities wanted to hold meting with the people that were affected by the tragedy.
A planned meeting between the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) and victims of the Solai dam tragedy together with their legal teams was aborted after armed police officers cordoned off the venue.
The meeting was to be held Wednesday at Solai centre in Nakuru County.
Police said the meeting was illegal and that security authorities had not been notified about it.
An attempt by residents led by the KHRC Director George Kegoro and Kabazi MCA Peter Mbae to hold the meeting forced the police to disperse crowds that were gathering using tear gas.
Police engaged residents in running battles for the better part of Wednesday morning.
