Arsenal are closing in on two new recruits having given up hope of landing Croatian international Ivan Perisic.
Unai Emery has made no secret of his wish to bring in new faces this January but he has stated that loan deals may be the only option with transfer finances restricted.
The arrival of Denis Suarez from Barcelona looks to be imminent and now winger Yannick Carrasco is being linked with a move to the Emirates.
Belgian Carrasco wants to leave Chinese side Dalian Yfang after a season where he scored seven goals in 25 appearances. He’s a player Emery knows all about from his time in La Liga and he wants a move back to Europe.
Bu there’s a twist. Inter Milan – who have stuck to their guns over Perisic – are also interested in Cassraco and are expected to rival Arsenal in a race to sign the player before the transfer window closes.
Emery hinted at the club’s next move in the market when he spoke to reporters after Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Cardiff City.
“Generally speaking, we need wingers,’ said Emery. “And if you have a player like Denis (Suarez), I know him because he played for me at Sevilla. His quality is this.”
Luis Suarez appeared to confirm the move of his namesake to Arsenal on Instagram. He posted a photo of him and Denis on Tuesday with the caption: “Good luck little Galician in this new challenge.”
Suarez featured 46 times for Barcelona after joining them in 2016 from Villareal. He scored three goals in that time and could join the club on a permanent deal if the loan move works out.
