Morata was unveiled as Atletico player and was handed No.22 jersey Alvaro Morata is excited returning to his boyhood club Atletico Madrid following an 18-month loan deal from Chelsea. According to the UK Daily Mail report, the 26-year-old, who played under the two managers – Antonio Conte and Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea struggled with loss form and confidence.

I’m absolutely made up and so proud to be here,” Morata was quoted as saying moments after signing the dotted lines. “There were other offers but all that stopped when Atletico came into the equation. I’m here and it’s brilliant. I can’t wait to train with my new teammates,” added Morata, who spent four years at the club’s academy before heading to Getafe in 2007 and Real Madrid.

The forward was at the Santiago Benerbeau for four years between 2010 and 2014 but joined Juventus for two seasons before returning to the Spanish capital. Morata later moved to Stamford Bridge in 2017. “It means a lot for me to be here, with people who know me and I can only give my thanks. “I didn’t need convincing (by coach Diego Simeone) to join. He knew that destiny was calling me here. I can’t wait to get started and to play for him,” he added The Spanish star is in line to make his debut on Sunday against Real Betis and could play in the Madrid derby against Real Madrid a week later, before tackling ex-club Juventus in the last 16 UEFA Champions League clash in February.

Alvaro Morata has broken the silence for the first time after arriving in Madrid ahead of his January move to La Liga. Morata has endured frustrating times with the Blues, with club boss, Maurizio Sarri, at one time demanding for his replacement. According to a UK Metro report, the Spaniard is now set for a return to La Liga with Atletico Madrid after the club agreeing on an 18-month loan deal with Chelsea. Alvaro Moratta may be considered becoming an Atletico Madrid player if he succeeded in coming back to normal form.
