Kwale county on the spot for education neglect leading to radicalization of youths into terrorism

An alarm has been raised after policein Kinango,Kwale County arrested 17 youths in a safe house in Samburu township in allegations that they were being processed to join al-shabab in Somalia.

The suspects included 15 men and two young women aged between 18-27 years.Police acting on intelligence stormed the two-bedroom house at around 12am on Sunday and seized the youths.

Two of the suspects told police they had completed Form Four but could not go to university due to lack of fees. Others are Class Seven dropouts.

A number of citizens have since taken to twitter to decry the major problem leading to Kwale youths being radicalised is the undermining of education in the area that has seen many youths idling around with no job to do.
