Manchester United received major boost ahead of Burnley

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Chris Smalling could soon return after recovering from a foot injury which has kept him sidelined since the start of December.

Chris Smalling is yet to feature under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since suffering an injury in the 4-1 win over Fulham back in December last year. Phil Jones has played the majority of games alongside Victor Lindelof for the past month after Smalling was forced out of United’s last seven league games and two FA Cup wins.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of the Burnley clash, Solskjaer revealed that Smalling could soon return into action, “Chris has trained for a week now, so he’s looking good. It’s about when do we get him into the team.” Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini are both expected to miss the game as they recover from long-term injuries.
