Tenda Wema Nenda Zako! President Uhuru highly praises Nairobi tout who returned KSh 30k to passenger

It is now nine months after Daniel Mwaura returned a lost wallet with KSh 30,000 plus other personal documents to the rightful owner, ending a two-week search. Mwaura who is a tout with Ganaki Sacco, in Nairobi was the talk of town then both online and offline and by look of thins his rare honesty reached the State House.

When President Kenyatta recognised Kenyans of virtue during multi-sectoral anti-corruption summit on Friday, January 24, Mwaura was among those in line for rare praise.

It was a moment to be behold for the middle-aged matatu operator when the president called out his name and invited him to the podium for a memorable handshake and maybe a photo.

“I also wish to recognize citizens like Daniel Mwaura the matatu tout on the Gachie City Centre route who as described on social media did something remarkable an unimaginable in this economy by returning a customer’s lost wallet with KSh30,000 still intact,” he said.

While stressing on need for all citizens to inculcate good values, Uhuru reminded Kenyans it was time to celebrate honesty and morals. Others hailed included Kenya Ladies Golf Team which returned unspent KSh 500,000 after representing Kenya in Ghana.
